Overview
Sydney’s Harbour front is a tourist destination with millions coming to the Opera House and Sydney Harbour Bridge every year. Visitors and locals flock to our iconic beaches, coastal walks and communities.
The brief
Tourist websites encourage visitors to Sydney’s coastal walks and attractions, but how do locals discover and experience these places? Document the experience of geographic sites from a local perspective.
Design process
I chose the walk from Spit Bridge to Manly as my inspiration for the design. Using photos and found maps I gathered together my thoughts and stories of exploring the natural environment and communities and characters along the walk.
I created a Zine because its self-published, alternative and grass roots method of sharing stories and to contrast the local human experience with the posed photos of tourist websites.
The result
The final product is a visually interesting story telling of wandering through a local space and the places and people I encountered along the way.
